Subject Description
This is a preliminary literature study undertaken as part of the Bachelor of Research training pathway degree. The purpose of the subject is to ensure candidates further develop their advanced knowledge in current topics in advanced materials. In addition, students will develop their research and communication skills for professional work or future learning. The project is undertaken under the supervision of a supervisor and a 5,000 to 10,000 word (or equivalent) report will be written with a thorough exposition of recent research in a named topic. In addition, a seminar will be presented. The topic is chosen in consultation with the supervisor, tailored to the needs and interests of the student.


Subject Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate advanced cognitive, technical and research skills in a discipline area to investigate and analyse complex information, problems and theories.
2. Critically reflect on, synthesize and evaluate a body of knowledge.
3. Communicate knowledge, skills and ideas to others.
