Subject Description
The principle purpose of architecture is to translate strategy into infrastructure. An architecture provides a blueprint for translating business strategy into a plan for IS. An infrastructure is everything that supports the flow and processing of information in an organisation, including hardware, software, data, network components and their supporting staff and facilities from the application level to the inter-organisational level. This subject includes an exploration of enterprise architecture concepts, case studies and frameworks.

Subject Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1. Understand an enterprise architecture in terms of organisation, application and infrastructure parts.
2. Design an enterprise architecture for an organisation.
3. Understand and describe several enterprise architecture frameworks.
4. Critically evaluate the use of enterprise architecture frameworks in specific organisational contexts.
5. Understand the relationship between enterprise architecture and business strategy and organisational strategy.
