Subject Description
This subject introduces students to specific areas of research in the field of Computer Science. Topics will be negotiated based on the current activities of various research units linked to the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering and the interests of the student. Students will join a particular project and undertake certain tasks under the supervision of a designated staff member. Students are required to undertake literature reviews, experimentation, programming, collect and analyse data and report on their findings to the research team.


Subject Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1. Develop and plan a research proposal, supported by initial review of existing knowledge.
2. Conduct literature reviews.
3. Design an experiment/computer program to examine a scientific research program.
4. Present their research verbally to colleagues and School members in a clear and consistent manner.
5. Compose a research-based project or piece of scholarship that demonstrates understanding and critical analysis in Computer Science.
