Subject Description
This subject is an advanced seminar focusing on professional development for media and communication careers. Students work intensively on the evaluation and application of critical theories, with a strong focus on reflective narrative practice. The subject is highly recommended for students considering progression to Honours. The subject will offer students advanced skills in research, critical analysis and self-managed project work, and through intensive narrative interviewing practice will explore the challenges and opportunities in developing a values framework for professional self-management.

Subject Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1. situate project work and outcomes in terms of principles expressed in narrative professional development literature
2. demonstrate familiarity with current scholarship in narrative professional development appropriate to media and communication careers
3. demonstrate advanced skills in research and critical analysis relevant to media and communication studies careers
4. demonstrate awareness of emerging issues affecting the media and communications industries
5. design and conduct a major research project
6. present research in a professionally appropriate format
